Ricardo Jevoux is an experienced English translator and native speaker of Portuguese from Rio de Janeiro. He lives in Portugal where he works as a freelance linguist. My passion lies in translation, entrepreneurship and helping people. After studying business administration at London Metropolitan University, I began my career working in finance, energy and telecommunications in Maputo, Mozambique. In 2013, I founded Navitas Group Lda, a company that aimed to disrupt the stagnant translation market in Mozambique. Mainly, I want to focus on using translation to facilitate communication between individuals and companies, as well as participating in entrepreneurial endeavors that catalyze socio-economic development. I have a depth of experience working in telecommunications, energy and new business development as well as 19 years of experience of translation and intercultural communication. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Translation and Localization Project Management at the University of Maryland, thus honing my translation skills, incorporating CAT Tools, MT and project management techniques into our company workflow and service delivery.

I taught English for 25 years. After retiring from school I started working with translations, editing and proofreading.

I have been working as full-time translator in various English to Brazilian Portuguese freelance projects since February 2013. During this time, I translated over 1,000,000 words in hundreds of projects for various clients, as well as proofread/edited hundreds of translations. My work experience has been focused on the education and health sectors, but I also concluded a diverse range of projects that include the translation of games, subtitles for feature films, workers' CVs, and several legal agreements and contracts.

I am a transparent, goal-oriented, and perfectionist professional with a positive perspective. I enjoy remote work and carefully follow instructions and I find it easy to work for long periods including during the night and maintain my attention to detail. That comes, of course, from having a genuine interest in Languages and Translation since I was a child and constant curiosity in researching different topics. I provide translation, retroversion, proofreading, transcription, and captioning services in general and specialized domains with appropriate technical resources. I would also like to add that I can handle deadlines just fine.

My native language is Portuguese. I was certified Portuguese interpreter and translator by the state of Texas in 2004 by the Dallas County Community College System.

I have a degree in Law and I am a lawyer and I have a degree in Pharmacy having worked both in the pharmaceutical industry and managing a pharmacy. Since 2011 I decided to make translation a full time job and I do not regret it at all. I specialize in medical, pharmaceutical and legal translations but I also translate many other subjects. I am accurate and I deliver on time no matter what.

I'm a native Portuguese translator, on the market for over 6 years.
