My name is Tanawan, a certified translator, native Portuguese speaker from Brazil. I am fluent in English, Spanish and German. I work as a translator since 2015. I have already translated and proofread several e-books, traditional books, subtitles, resumes, contracts, manuals, articles, apps and even technical translations for BOSCH and Amazon, for example. A high quality translation is always the key.

I have a degree in Law and I am a lawyer and I have a degree in Pharmacy having worked both in the pharmaceutical industry and managing a pharmacy. Since 2011 I decided to make translation a full time job and I do not regret it at all. I specialize in medical, pharmaceutical and legal translations but I also translate many other subjects. First, I would like to introduce myself very briefly. I am a 42-year old native Portuguese speaker, who grew, studied and, nowadays, works in Portugal (in the city with the famous hovering umbrella installation, by the way). I am a trained translator with a diploma in English and Portuguese languages and translation post-graduate studies. Before finishing university I decided to interrupt studies to work as an expatriate translator/interpreter in a construction project with a Portuguese company in Barbados. I have completed university after returning and never stopped doing what I really like: communicate between languages. My experience and skills are especially strong with medicine, IT/ICT, defence, business, marketing and legal translation, dealing with contracts, annual reports, corporate websites, bidding documents, business plans, brochures, presentations, written resolutions, and agreements, confidential emails, language assistance in meetings, also experience in diplomatic level. The total number of words over these 20 years exceeds 5,000,000 words, with companies and brand names such as Huawei, Unitel, IBM, Unilever, Suunto, Dell, Disney, Gesticer, Harley Davidson, to name a few. Hello! I am a Brazilian freelance translator/localizer (English/Portuguese-BR), proofreader and editor. My first translation job as a freelancer was in 2013 and I started working as a full-time freelance translator in 2017. In the last three years, I have been providing translating, subtitling, copywriting and proofreading services for several clients, such as TransPerfect Translations and Trivago. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication, a Specialization in Editorial Projects and a Master’s degree in Literary and Cultural Studies. I also hold a Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) certificate. I have a deep knowledge of Portuguese grammar. Although I have been living in Europe for the last 5 years, Brazilian Portuguese is my native language and the variant I work mainly with.

My passion lies in translation, entrepreneurship and helping people. After studying business administration at London Metropolitan University, I began my career working in finance, energy and telecommunications in Maputo, Mozambique. In 2013, I founded Navitas Group Lda, a company that aimed to disrupt the stagnant translation market in Mozambique. Mainly, I want to focus on using translation to facilitate communication between individuals and companies, as well as participating in entrepreneurial endeavors that catalyze socio-economic development. I have a depth of experience working in telecommunications, energy and new business development as well as 19 years of experience of translation and intercultural communication. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Translation and Localization Project Management at the University of Maryland, thus honing my translation skills, incorporating CAT Tools, MT and project management techniques into our company workflow and service delivery.
